Spring has well and truly sprung despite uneven temperatures and precipitation, and who can forget that late April snow!! A small cadre of physically distanced volunteers have mostly finished planting the garden and we are starting to see seedlings pop up and fruit starting to set on our perennials.
Food security is the focus of the City’s decision to reopen community gardens. Parkview Neighbourhood Garden will be donating our produce to organizations feeding people in need. We have already donated a harvest of asparagus and rhubarb to a kitchen creating shelter meals, and are planning our next donation to a local food bank.
Thank you to all the volunteers who have nurtured our seedlings, hauled supplies, who have weeded and planted, and who continue to take care of our precious food resources this season.
