Happy New Year, volunteers!
The Parkview Neighbourhood Garden Leadership Team will be holding its first meeting for 2016, and this meeting will be open to volunteers who might want to consider joining the Leadership Team. The meeting will be held on January 25th, on the main floor of John McKenzie House (next to the garden on Parkview Avenue), starting at 7 pm.
For those of you who aren’t aware, the Leadership Team is a small group of volunteers that meets throughout the year, every month or so. This team does all of the planning and decision making concerning all activities and special events that occur in the garden, as well as providing leadership to all volunteers. Team members volunteer for tasks and projects that support the garden, participate in all garden events, and provide input and research into the continuing development of the garden. Each member concentrates on a specific aspect of the garden (volunteer recruitment and communication, planting, event planning, etc.).
This year, we are looking especially for a volunteer who would like to become treasurer. Our treasurer since the garden began, David Peacock, will be stepping down because he is moving out of the neighbourhood. David currently uses Quicken to keep track of things, but any software could be used. This is not a time consuming role. It involves keeping track of funds coming in and going out, writing cheques, etc. David would be more than happy to explain the role to a new treasurer.
If you think that you might want to join the Leadership Team, and would like to attend this meeting, please email: [email protected] so that we will know to expect you. You can also ask any questions that you might have.
