What We Harvest and Where It Goes

At Parkview Neighbourhood Garden, we split our produce between local food charities, and our volunteers and neighbours. Starting in May, we harvest directly for donation to local not-for-profit organizations such as the local woman’s shelter or food bank. Starting in July, we host Neighbourhood Nights, where our volunteers pick for neighbourhood visitors in return for cash donations to fund our next planting season.

We grow a wide range of produce. The first produce we harvest are asparagus and rhubarb. This is followed by berries, and once we get into July, summer produce such as leafy greens, squash, herbs, tomatoes, beans, carrots, beets and peppers. We wrap up the year by harvesting potatoes and jerusalem artichokes.
