We were working away very nicely last Saturday until it started to pour. At least we didn’t have to water what we had just planted!
We didn’t have a lot of volunteers last Saturday, and combined with the uncooperative weather, we still have more to do. So, instead of having a regular Saturday shift next week, let’s have another planting day. Hopefully, if we get enough volunteers, we’ll be able to wrap up all of the planting. We’ll meet at 10 am on Saturday, June 3. We hope you can come out.
On the topic of weekly shifts, these early days are always a tricky time to weed. Before the seeds sprout and become established recognizable plants, it is really hard to tell what is a weed and what is a sprouting plant. So, during your weekly shift, be sure to ask your shift leader before you go ahead and start weeding somewhere. And if you ever have any doubt about what is a weed and what is not, ask your shift leader or a more experienced volunteer. In these early days, your shift leader will get you working on a “safe” task.
See you in the garden!
